So.. I have a little news on the Cameron/EKG situation. I saw a new doctor today, and I liked her a lot so I think we may switch to this office altogether. I told her the situation with Cameron, and she examined him and basically told me what I was hoping to hear- that if I hadn’t said anything, she wouldn’t have thought any of his veins in his chest either because he is pale-skinned, and his veins are actually visible all of his body, not just his chest. The doctor also said that if anything, she would recommend a chest x-ray first, as an ekg would be very difficult to do on an infant. But, she didn’t make me feel like it was a necessity, but something we could do just to be safe. If something came up on there (like an enlarged area of the heart,) then we’d do an EKG. But she said there really are no signs of a “backup” somewhere in the blood vessels, which is what they would be looking for. We’ll go ahead and do the chest x-ray, and then hopefully put this stuff behind us. By the way, Cameron is 22 pounds, 30 inches. He behaved perfectly today.
I have to say, it was actually quite difficult to have this conversation with the doctor, as Lily and Ben were pretty much screaming the whole time. We waited about 20 minutes in the little patient room, and they were nearing the end of their patience when she came in.. and reached full-blown meltdown stage by the time she was examining Cameron. I haven’t really seen them that angry out in public, ever. Granted, they were overdue for their nap. and it was getting really hot in that little room, and of course I couldn’t pick either one of them up because I was holding Cameron, so they just had to wait it out. As soon as I wheeled them out, they were fine. They just wanted out of that room:)
* The doctor also said Cameron’s ears look fine now- so the antibiotics did their job:)
On a side note, Ben and Cameron now have runny noses, which started yesterday. We have now had some kind of sickness from at least one baby, at all times for at least a month. Its getting really annoying. I feel like I live at the doctors office!!
Todd and I took the kids out to dinner last night at Downtown Disney- our first time eating out as a family.. it was interesting:) Actually the kids were pretty good- no crying or fussing, and they ate pretty well. When I looked under the table before we left I was shocked to see about 5,000 cheerios and bit of foods, pacifiers, toys, etc. I was in the food and beverage business way too long to leave it like that so I got down picked it up- I will never be that family that makes a huge mess and leaves it for the server to pick up. (I admit I used to cringe when I waited tables and families with little kids came in. I would try to give them away to someone else:) On our way out a server said “Wow, you must take them out a lot, they were so good”. It was actually only their 3rd time in a restaurant in their life.. but that’s a great compliment!
Above are some pictures of the kids playing with their new toys from their cousins! They arrived in the mail while they were napping, and I had them all spread out on the floor for when they woke up- they were so excited for all the new stuff to play with!
