Well, it’s official. Our kids may be getting baths on the kitchen counter in their little plastic tub till they’re 8 for all I know at this point. We made a valiant effort tonight to get them into the real tub, but it was quite unsuccessful. We have a little blowup baby tub that we tried to put in the big tub and sit them in.. no go. Then we tried their tub that they use now, in the big tub, but that wasn’t making them any happier. They pretty much thrashed and screamed the entire time. Todd in stood in the tub with them, but it still wasn’t didn’t make a difference. Lily was ok for a minute, but then the sound of the water running in the tub freaked her out and that was it. I actually am ok with doing their baths in the kitchen because that way I can keep the 2 non-bathers in their highchairs and keep them in view.. but now that they like to splash, the entire kitchen ends up soaked so I think it’s time to move on. I guess we’ll just have to keep trying it and eventually they will get used to it? I did invest in a few bath toys today but maybe the right toy could keep them distracted..
In case you were wondering, I think I have finally solved the cloth diaper dilemma. The adding of extra soap was the key. I’m always so worried about getting buildup and causing them to leak that I think I don’t use enough soap. Well, now I do, and the ammonia issue is much better. I still use disposables when we go out because I don’t want to deal with carrying the cloth around when they are dirty, but we are back to cloth at home. Phew! Buying all those diapers was getting old!
I have something very exciting coming in the mail tomorrow.. can’t wait to show you!
