We had such a great day today! My plans were altered a little when I realized that today was Todd’s day off, so we switched our Animal Kingdom plans with our friends to tomorrow, and went to the Lowry Park Zoo for a great day with the family! I was so pleasantly surprised by what a great zoo this place was! It was HUGE; I don’t even think we got to see everything there before they closed. Of course there were all kinds of animals, but they have free pony rides for kids over 2 (soon enough!), smaller roller coasters, a flume ride, and a little petting area that the kids LOVED.
I really felt like we needed to show them some animals, as they still look around for the dog, saying “dow” or “gaw” (dog) all day long. The call all animals this, even Cameron does it now:) Anyway, the petting area was a big hit- Lily was in her glory in there. No fear at all in that girl, she ran right up to a goat and threw her arms around it. Cameron was a little wary; he’s still getting used to walking, and I think he was too busy trying to figure out what all the little brown things on the ground were… yuck. Ben liked the freedom of walking around in there with the animals, and he liked the looking, not so much the touching.
It was really a great place to just go for a walk too- we walked for a couple hours and I don’t think we retraced our steps at all. I can’t wait to go back with our friends! Here are a few pictures from the day:
By the way… really great giveaway on our Multiples and More blog on Friday! Don’t forget to check it out!
And PS- I went sippy cup shopping yesterday based on some recommendations from some helpful readers, and I got 2 winners: The Gerber color change sippies, and Playtex My First Sipster, and both were happily accepted. For the longest time, the kids wouldn’t have anything to do with a hard spout, but I guess they are ready now. I feel so silly for stressing about them drinking out of sippy cups. Once again, they are teaching me an important lesson- they will do things when they are ready. I can try to encourage certain things, but if they aren’t ready, it’s just not going to happen. When I start posting about stressing over potty training (not for quite a while!), please refer me to this post:)
