What a day! Things are going great with the new blog, we got to do a little egg-hunting practice this afternoon, and this evening.. I actually made it out of the house, by myself, no kids! We had a GOMOTT meeting tonight, which was good because they had a twins panel, where we asked questions to twins and triplets of varying ages. It was really interesting to hear how they all related to one another, and to hear from the parents as well. It was so strange for me, looking at these kids lined up in front of us; there was a set of fraternal triplets, age 12, in the middle of the table. I kept picturing my Lily, Ben and Cameron up there, so big and grown-up, and I actually teared up a few times. Yes, I’m a huge dork. But I did take a few things away from it:
-The consensus between most of the kids, and their parents was that it really is best to separate multiples into different classes in school, to enable them to find their own sense of individuality, and make their own friends. It does make sense, but it also breaks my heart at the same time to think of splitting them up.
-There’s no set relationship that multiples all have with each other. Each set that I saw tonight had different relationships with each other.
-All the kids agreed, that they always get the question “What’s it like to be a …?”
and the only thing they can say is that they don’t know any other way. It just wasn’t a big deal, to any of them, it was just the way it was. Again, it makes sense.
Before the meeting, I had a chance to get outside with the kids (and Todd!) and let them run around a little bit and play. I had just gone to the store today to get some Easter baskets, and I also picked up some plastic eggs. Not being one to ever want to wait for anything (like Saturday, when we are going to an Easter egg hunt in the park), I decided to set up a little egg hunt out back. We of course did a little playing on the swingset, too!
OK, it’s 1:30 am, and I have to get up early tomorrow. Back to the zoo again tomorrow with the Netheros!
