Yesterday was a long, but wonderful day. We met Todd’s brother, and his family at 9am for a day of fun at the Magic Kingdom. If you know me, or read this blog, you know I go to the Disney parks a lot because I live nearby and have an annual pass… but it was SO much better going with family, with enough hands to actually get to go on the rides, and getting to see the kids interact with their cousins that LOVE them so much was the best part of the day. You might wonder what kind of crazy family would go to the parks during spring break when it is CRAZY busy, with 5 small children? The kind of family that is also lucky enough to get a tour guide, which allows you onto the rides, bypassing the lines. The glee of breezing by hundreds of people waiting in line is just enough to overcome the death rays aimed at your back as you pass people that have been waiting an hour for a 5 minute ride:)Thank you SO MUCH Uncle Kevin and Aunt Sheri:)
I was a little nervous about how things were going to go, since the babies weren’t going to get an official “nap” all day.. Ben got slightly crabby at lunch (at the Crystal Palace- SO GOOD) but once he saw his favorite food, chicken nuggets, all was good again. They probably got about 45 minutes of sleep all day, but overall they were just awesome. We rode It’s a Small World, the Magic Carpets, the Jungle Cruise, Peter Pan, Winnie the Pooh, and saw Philharmagic with the kids, and the grownups swapped out and got to ride Splash Mountain and Pirates of the Caribbean. All this was by 3 pm, then we watched the parade, and headed back to the Beach Club hotel for some swimming.. I can’t believe how much the kids loved the water. Bad mommy forgot to bring her camera to the pool, but we will get some more on Tuesday when we go back over to visit again!
After the pool, we headed to Epcot for dinner, and to watch the fireworks.. Again, the kids were so good. Herman’s Hermits was performing at the pavilion right behind us. They are the kind of band that you recognize when you hear the songs… but I bet my mom and dad know who they are:).
The kids were pretty mesmerized by the fireworks! Lots of pointing:) I didn’t get pictures of that either unfortunately, but sometimes its nice to just enjoy something without worrying about snapping pictures..
We got home late, put the kiddos to bed and crashed ourselves. They got up a little later than normal today, but then took an amazing 2.5 hour nap in the morning- which was nice because I really needed one myself!
Days like yesterday make it all worthwhile. All the packing and loading and strollers and walking and high chairs and diaper changes and cleanups… are totally worth the smiles on those little faces and the hugs from those little arms.
