I am just floored right now.. Ben has taken his escaping abilities to the next level today, and done things I did not think were possible.
First at lunch today: I got him out of his crib after the morning nap first. I change his diaper, strap him into the high chair, put the tray on, give him some Kix and turn on the dvd player to keep him occupied while I get the other two up.
I get Lily, change her, and when I get back to the kitchen, Ben is in the middle chair, with no straps, and no tray, just totally free to fall off or jump off or whatever he wants. For a minute I wasn’t sure if I had put him in that chair, maybe not strapped him in and he somehow got his tray off… but, no, I always put them in their chairs going left to right. And there were Kix on the floor next to the other chair, so I figured out that yes, he got himself out and decided to switch chairs. How he did it without falling is beyond me.. the kid has some good coordination, that is for sure. (Thank God!)
And just now… the kids are down for a nap but I hear all kinds of chattering in their room. So I quietly approach their door and peek through the crack, which is directly in front of Ben’s crib, and see my worst nightmare- it’s EMPTY.
I threw open the door…. and this is what I see…
I am in disbelief right now.. I know Ben can climb the playard easily, but that has little footholds for him to use.. the cribs are much taller, and have no footholds, and are not even that close together!
Cameron: “I told him not to do it, mom!”
So.. now what? crib tents? I have no idea, but this is a whole new wrinkle in the situation. Yikes.
