Fun for some, but not necessarily all:) We had the Adams boys over today for a fingerpainting playdate. I knew it was going to be a mess, but I hoped I’d have some pretty paintings and happy kids to show for it! They were happy when the painting part was over, anyway:)
Really, it was more Lily who was bothered by it. She just didn’t get what was going on. While the Adams boys happily jumped right in and spread paint all over the paper, she yipped in dismay, as if to say “What are they doing, mom!? They are making a mess!”
Ben didn’t want to get his hands dirty.. he acted really bashful, which was weird to see! I would have thought he would relish the oppportunity to get messy.
Cameron was more interested in eating the paint and painting himself. I put them in old outfits that they have sort of outgrown, so I didn’t mind them getting their clothes dirty, and I took all the toys out of the playyard and used the giant roll of banner paper, which we taped down the middle of the play area. This way they were contained at least for the messy part.
It started out looking a little like a runway, and ended up like a giant slip’n’slide:
I am not a big fan of the paint we used.. Crayola washable finger paints. It was really like a gel, not a paint. But I suppose it’s better for little kids.
Next time, the kids need to be strapped into chairs.. the free roaming didn’t work out so well! We had fun anyway:) Thanks to April, Hadden, Hunter, and Hendrix for coming over to play today!
