Things are getting a little hairy around here. The kids seem to randomly morph into screaming, impossible-to-please little… toddlers, I guess. I’m really, really hoping this is normal. For some reason, Lily gets really cranky during breakfast- refusing everything I offer her, shaking her head violently and crying every time I offer her something else- this isn’t like her. Ben gets extremely frustrated that I won’t open his sippy cup and let him drink out of it like a big kid. (Every time I do, he just dumps it out and cries..) He comes up to me, shaking the cup saying “Up, up” (open) and then throws himself on the floor when I don’t do it. And Cameron…. anytime anything remotely unpleasant happens, (he trips, or someone takes his toy, or looks at him the wrong way) it’s an all out catastrophe, and he needs lots and lots of hugs and cuddling. Don’t get me wrong, I love holding him. He is the sweetest cuddling baby in the world. But I have to wonder if he is going to be the kid in school that cries all the time. I should probably just be happy that he loves his mommy and milk it for all it’s worth, because soon enough he’ll be hiding in his bedroom telling me to go away:) Today he walked up to the vacuum and pushed the button to turn it on and it scared him so bad he clung to me for 20 minutes. Poor little pumpkin!
The tripleterrors banded together yesterday and broke the gate that we use to keep them out of the kitchen. It’s not completely broken, but it can be pushed fairly easily, ripping the screws out of the wall, so we need to figure something out there. I’m not quite ready to let them run freely in the kitchen because it’s really hard to make dinner with them running around in there. And of course, they still like to climb up the chairs and onto the kitchen table.
the outside play area had become sort of a problem because the kids just wanted to climb out and play in the entertainment center and on the treadmill. I probably pick up kids and put them back in the playarea oh, 20 or 30 times a day. I decided today would be a good day to do some rearranging and give the kids even more room to play- so I basically made a “kid” area, and an “adult” area, taking their playyard fence and gating in the treadmill, tv, and table, and leaving the rest of the room for them to spread out and play. I wish I had more step2 mats for the floor, but I did arrange some rugs so that most of the room in matted or carpeted now. So far, they love it. I really hope that they will be happy back there for a little longer. My next acquisition is going to be a sand/water table, and hopefully a little table and chairs soon. I’m stalking Craigslist because of course, I want to get a good deal on them!
