We had a really, really, great day today. I’ve been dying to get over to the beach and since today was Todd’s day off, we decided to go for it. We headed out after lunch, not exactly sure which beach we were going to, but hoping for the best. I was hoping to find a beach that was not too crowded, and that didn’t have a long distance between the parking lot and the water, so that we would have an easy time getting the wagon and all our gear down to the beach. We headed towards Clearwater, then just cruised down the coastline until we found a smaller beach to try- and we found the PERFECT one- Indian Rocks. It was just what I was hoping for, plus the sand was harder packed than Clearwater (which made it extremely hard to pull the wagon through last time I went there), so it was not hard getting the kids to our “spot”. I set up our tent, (which actually only served to make it easy to find our spot and to house our bags, since the kids wanted nothing to do with it.) We got ourselves a beach umbrella, which gave us the shade we needed.
There were people there, but it was very calm and quiet, and just beautiful. The water was literally like bathwater, but it still felt good. It was pretty crazy trying to keep the kids all under control by the water, so we ended up taking them in shifts into the water, with us each taking turns and rotating which baby we took in with us.
Lily LOVED the water, of course, and had no fear of the waves. They were small waves, but I was worried they would scare the kids anyway. Not Lily! She just laughed:)
Cameron didn’t “warm up” to the water until right before we left- he just clung to me like a little koala bear most of the time he was with me. But he liked playing in the sand! And eating it!
Benjamin- he surprised me today. He didn’t step off the blanket once! While we were chasing Lily and Cameron, Ben just sat quietly playing with his shovel and bucket. He was a complete angel, but he was a little nervous around the water.
It was nice to be at the beach again.. I wish we lived closer, I would be there everyday!
After playing for about 3 hours, we showered, changed and took the kids out to dinner at our favorite pizza place in Clearwater, Post Corner Pizza. I was a little nervous to see how the kids would behave, but again, they were awesome. They gave us a giant table which was sooo nice. There was room to put all the things that we don’t want the kids to get into, out of their reach- we usually have to put things on the floor! Ben was flirting with a table of ladies behind us, smiling and waving and doing his “Crazy Benny” face, (where he shakes his head back and forth vigorously while looking straight up at the ceiling.)
We packed up, the kids fell asleep in the car, and we all made it home in one piece! I love days like this, where things all go right. Why can’t there be more of them??
