Today was a much better day.. Todd was off of work, and my great friends Allie and Steve invited us to spend the day at the beach with them. So off to St. Pete Beach we went. I have been going to Clearwater a lot lately, but St. Pete is near and dear to my heart, mostly because Todd and I got married there, at the Tradewinds. In fact, we took a sunset stroll with the kids tonight right along the spot where are ceremony was held. Steve and Allie got married there too! Who knew, 5 years later we would be walking down the beach with our 5 kids??
The kids were really pretty great. I can’t believe how much energy they have, they just went and went and went, all day. We got there are 1:30, stopped at McDonalds for a quick lunch, then headed down to the beach. They swam, (in the gulf, and the pool) walked, ran, explored, chased birds, ate sand, dug holes.. good times. Lily and our friends’ daughter Alex became great buddies! Sitting there on the beach with Allie, making sandcastles with our kids together- I couldn’t stop thinking how awesome that was… we have been friends since the 7th grade, and despite moving several times to different states, our friendship is one that has lasted. I’m so grateful for that.
Anyway..They made us a great dinner, and afterwards we went for a walk on the beach. The kids were asleep in the car before we hit 275, and I will be soon too. It was a long, but wonderful day.
*For the sake of a good story, I’m going to leave out the part where the kids ran around in and about their hotel room making a mess and eating things off the ground. But it might have happened.
