When I first started blogging, it was just as a way to keep our family up to date with what was going on with the kids, and for me to keep track of their milestones. Little by little, I began to find other multiple moms, many of whom had kids about the same age as mine, and through our blogs, we’ve actually become friends. This is something I would never have thought possible a year ago. In the beginning I actually thought it was a little weird for total strangers to be leaving comments on my blog. Who knew that a year later I would start a new blog network and be reading literally hundreds of different blogs?
I have a special place in my heart though, for triplet moms, so when I “met” Brooke on the Bump.com multiples board, I followed her story pretty closely. Knowing what it’s like to be pregnant with triplets and not really know what to expect, I did my best to answer her questions and reassure her that triplet pregnancies can, and usually do, have perfectly happy outcomes.
She ended up giving birth at 25 weeks and 5 days, to 2 girls and a boy: Charlie, Lily, and Annaleigh. Despite their prematurity, the babies were doing amazingly well. Brooke and her husband both updated their blog daily, and although there were some down days, the outlook looked really positive. Then today, out of the blue, a bowel infection took their precious daughter Annaleigh. It’s just unbelievably unfair and I am having trouble processing this news. I don’t understand why. I just want someone to explain to me why these things happen. And why did we get so lucky? The thought of losing a child is just too much, yet I can’t stop thinking about this sweet little girl and her family.
