I bet you were wondering how the rest of our time at Disney went, right? Well, it was a little chaotic, but lots of fun (when no one was melting down, that is). We went to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party on Sunday night, which was lots of fun because for once, we actually were able to take the kids on rides! They had an awesome Christmas parade, complete with elves, toy soldiers, gingerbread men, and of course, Santa himself. Again, my standards of personal space were repeatedly violated by random strangers at the parade, but, hey, it was a special occasion. (But FYI, if you happen to be watching a parade, and need to hold your camera so close to someone else’s head that they can smell your hand lotion, maybe that’s a shot you just don’t need to take)
We got to ride Dumbo just as the fireworks were going off, and it was… dare I say, magical? We also rode Small World, Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean (my favorite), and Space Mountain. I haven’t been on Space Mountain in a long time, and it has had some neat renovations this past year. Anyway, the kids had so much fun hanging out with their cousins! The following day we met them at the Polynesian (where, by the way, I used to work about 10(ish) years ago), and they did some swimming and general havoc-wreaking. Swimming with 3 two year olds can get a little hairy but overall, I would call it a success. The Polynesian is a gorgeous hotel. I lifeguarded there back in my early twenties and it was such a blast to work in such a beautiful setting.
Funny story.. (sort of)- one day while I was on break, I was kicking my soccer ball around on the beach at the Poly when I was approached by the producers of the Denise Austin show to be a “question asker”.. If you know me, you know how ridiculous is it that I would do such a thing, which is precisely why I did it. They were shooting an episode on the beach that day and had a little segment at the end of the show where a random person asks Denise a question about exercise. I was kind of annoyed because I wanted to hold my soccer ball while I talked, and she said it was too dirty and wanted it out of the shot. It was kind of like my security blanket in those days. Anywho- she showed me a lovely exercise for strengthening my abs. I should probably revisit that exercise one of these days. Anyway, back to our Disney pictures!
getting ready to head out..
Ben looks a little scared here.. but believe me he got over it! He was pointing at the parade floats and smiling before long..
This doesn’t do it justice, but the castle looks so awesome right now.. it glows and sparkles in all different colors! Lily didn’t care though, she just wanted her shoe back..
My feeble attempt at a group shot. (I have no idea who those people with the mickey mouse santa hats on are. Nope, those people were not with us:))
