We had such a great day at the Magic Kingdom on Wednesday! We went with our friends the Netheros (yes, we did go to Seaworld with them this week too. hmm.. maybe we are pretty lucky to live in Central FL) but anyway, it was just a great week all around to go parkhopping because the weather has been perfect, and the crowds have been small. Mid to late January is such a great time to go to the park because school is in session just about everywhere.
Anyway, we brought our au pair for her first ever visit to the Magic Kingdom, and it was great to have all 6 of us doing something fun together. Having three adults meant we had enough hands to take the kids on rides with us, instead having to keep them in strollers the entire time. They are at such a fun age- they now know and recognize most of the characters, and got really excited when they saw Mickey and Minnie during the parade. We were able to go on most of the rides with minimal wait, and the kids all seemed to really enjoy themselves. They got to meet the princesses, and Belle was their favorite- they all gave her a high five. Lily bonded with her friend, Jill, giving out several “huggies”, and I think they shared a secret or two. She got a quick powernap earlier in the day (see photo) but was raring to go by the time the parade started.
I can’t leave out the most exciting part of my day, which was when I rode Space Mountain with Amanda, and the “rocket ship” stopped about 3 seconds from the end of the ride. Something caused the entire ride to shut down, and all the rocketships in the “Mountain” had to be evacuated. Due to the positioning of OUR little piece of the ship (which was just a foot or two past the staircase- I totally could have jumped), they had to call the fire department to safely get us off the ride. I suppose Disney doesn’t want to invite any injury lawsuits, but seriously, it was like 3 feet, maybe. The entire time I was thinking, “I bet the kids are freaking out right now!” since they were waiting with the husbands and Ploy for us to return. But soon enough we were “rescued” and back in action. The kids were fine. And it was pretty cool to see what Space Mountain looks like with the lights on. Lots of metal, very close to your head.
All in all, it was a great day. We all had fun, and hope to get back there again soon!
