I just put the kids to bed, kinda late as usual. They were being a little rotten tonight, so I considered for a brief minute putting them to bed early, and even skipping baths tonight. One look at Cameron’s greasy, butter-soaked hair told me that baths were not negotiable tonight- and I’m glad we did baths because it was an instant mood lifter; the kids became adorable little angels again once the warm, bubbly water hit their skin. Lily and Ben were practicing their cannonballs and laughing hysterically, while Cameron poured water from cup to cup to cup in his little corner of the tub. I was soaked, but it’s ok. They had fun, and the whining that was starting to eat away at my brain earlier had ceased. All was good again.
Tonight I read Elmo’s “The Firehouse” to them.. Cameron gets “fire” and “flower” mixed up sometimes, so he kept saying “flower house!” Adorable.
I convinced Lily to take off her sandals (which she is quite obsessed with), kissed them all goodnight (including several kisses and “fives” for Ben), and closed their door. I don’t know what made me linger at the door for a moment tonight, because honestly I usually walk away immediately with a huge sigh of exhaustion after I shut the door. But tonight, I eavesdropped a little, and got to hear the sweetest thing I think I have ever heard.
Lily: “Night, Cam-wen!” *kissy noises*
Cameron: “Nigh-nigh Ninny!” *kissy noises*
Lily and Cameron: “Nigh-nigh Benny!”*simultaneous kissy noises*
