If I had to grade this day, that is what it’s components would receive. I had a lovely morning, and got to spend some time alone with Cameron. Sometimes I feel like his tantrums might have something to do with him just wanting more attention so I was hoping he would feel very happy about having my undivided attention. It is just so much fun to spend time with just one child, and focus on interacting with only him/her. I was also really excited about taking him to the library for the first time- he really liked it! That may not have had much to do with the books, but the more we go, the more he will understand what goes on there. He was really interested in the water fountain, the childrens’ playhouse, and the toys built in to the wall, and only semi-interested in reading. There were so many new chairs to sit in, things to touch; he was in heaven. On the way out, he helped check out the books, and even said “Fank-yoooo” to the librarian. Such a sweetie. I heard from Ploy that while we were gone, Lily kept asking where Cameron went, and Ben was very upset because Cameron got to take a “special ride”. Cameron mentioned Ben and Lily a few times on the way to the library, but once he got there, he seemed to have forgotten about his siblings:) I am going to try to do this once a week with each child if I have the chance.
In the afternoon, I went to run a few errands. Remember how I got my license renewed last week- I needed it to be able to close an account at the bank? Well, I went again to that bank to try and close the account, new license in tow. I waited a lovely 30 minutes in the crowded waiting area, and when I got called up, handed over my license…. and was informed that the name on my license doesn’t match the name on my account. Whaaaa? I guess when I was initially handed the license I was so traumatized by the hideous picture that I just jammed it in my purse and never looked closely at it. They had put my maiden last name on the card. I have no idea why they would do this, as I didn’t ask them to change it, and all the information on my last license was correct. So, another wasted trip, and I got home too late to take the kids to Fort Wilderness with Todd and Ploy. We were going to go to the campground for a Singalong and Campfire event they have there every night. We don’t have the opportunity that often to do this because we need all three adults to get there, as we have to ride a bus.
(This part of the day earned a big, fat F)
After dinner, we took the kids to swim in our neighbor’s pool. I was absolutely floored to see how well the kids can swim. In the past 6 months, they have swam maybe two times. Even last month, they just kind of clung to us in the water. Today, all three kids were splashing around the entire pool, without even needing us for support. They did have floaties on, but they were able to swim around and jump in the pool without any help. Crazy! We stayed in the pool until we were all super pruny and it was getting dark. I asked Lily if she wanted to go home and she said “No, mommy, I wanna swim more!” Her communication skills are outstanding! It ended up being a lovely evening after all with my whole family. It almost makes up for the fact that I have to go back to the DMV and the bank. Again.
Well, the laundry beckons. Have a great evening. There ya have it.
Please keep voting! I have been hanging out in the 20’s, which is great but I have to keep getting votes to stay there! Thanks!
