Did that really just happen? Yes, I think it did. It was kind of a blur, mostly because it went so smoothly (for the most part). When my aunt and cousins invited me to join them at EPCOT for the 4th this year, I was happy to come. The last few years have brought some very uneventful 4ths of July, so I was happy to have company since Todd usually has to work. I was planning on going in the afternoon, after the kids nap, but when it turned out to be an overcast and drizzly day, I decided to wing it and go early. (Overcast and drizzly is actually a good thing down here, as it is at least a little bit cooler out and you don’t get 3rd degree sunburn from being in the sun for 15 minutes.) We headed over right around lunchtime, and met up with the family, including my two aunts, 3 cousins, and 1 friend-of-cousins. (Lots of extra hands=awesome.)
The kids had a little lunch, went on a boat ride in Mexico, and got fawned over by their family- it was great. They really behaved pretty well, even considering they didn’t have a nap at all. I figured they would fall asleep in the stroller at some point; I was wrong. As always, Lily wanted to run all over creation like a maniac, and Cameron wanted to be carried (by me), but other than that, I’d call it a success.
The only downfall…. the fireworks at EPCOT started later than normal tonight, so the kids conked out before they started. I enjoyed them, though. The were unbelievably loud (almost to the point of being obnoxious) at one point, and only Cameron stirred. Lily and Ben were sleeping like logs at that point. Cameron is absolutely not a fan of fireworks, and covers his eyes and ears when they are going off. I won’t discuss what it’s like to try to leave EPCOT at the end of the evening, on Fourth of July, or how ridicoulsy long it took me to get home–let’s focus on the positive here.
Cameron was quite enamored with Nemo!
The kids cousin, M, stowed away in the Runabout. Man, that stroller is a beast, but it’s unstoppable.
Did I mention how helpful my cousins are with the kids- it was amazing. This is their friend, C, who can come babysit for us anytime.
A cool picture of the girls holding Ben and Cameron inside “The Seas”.
Hope you had a great holiday:)
Don’t forget to vote! I really really appreciate it!
