So much going on, so little time to write, but I miss writing in my blog every day.
I have a long list of things to write about, so I’m going to have to work backwards.. but today I’ll write about the latest thing on my mind: MOVING!
We have been living in a rental home for the past 5 years. It’s humble, functional, close to where we wanted to be, fairly easy commute- but we are ready and craving more space, a pool, and more freedom to make our house “our home”. I also thought we would have moved out of state by now, but it looks like we may have a few more years here, so we decided to take the plunge.
Luckily, it’s an “easy” move, in the sense that we aren’t going far. Not much will change in terms of everyday life, other than going to different house. (Which happens to be bigger, nicer, has a pool, and HOA takes care of the lawn! No more mowing!!!)
But the packing and cleaning is killing me. I wanted to be proactive, so that we wouldn’t have to rush to do it all the week before, so I have been packing and cleaning since May. That’s right, May. And I’m just now getting to where I think there’s not much more I can do.
Deep cleaning is the worst thing ever. Mini-blinds, oven, bathtub scrubbing, a/c vents, painting baseboards, painting bedrooms, and the kitchen cabinets… oh my god. I’ve always prided myself on not having a cleaning service but it’s starting to make more and more sense.
I scoured Pinterest to look for “cleaning hacks” for moving… (like for the blinds and oven). ALL LIES. There are no cleaning hacks. There’s nothing you can just spray on, leave for a few hours, and it all just wipes off. I tried. All I can think of to have avoided this situation would be to clean said items a liiitttlle more frequently in the first place. But honestly, for me, it’s tough enough to keep up with the laundry most of the time.
We are now very close to moving day- and all very excited. I have everything that can be boxed, in boxes. We are eating on paper plates and using paper cups, sleeping on mattresses on the floor, and being threatened with death (by me) if we don’t wipe up the sinks and counters after we make a mess.
The other rough part- the kids go back to school 4 days before we move. I was reallly hoping to be settled in before they started school. C’est la vie. (sp).
Speaking of children… did you know they are 9, going on 10 now? I have no idea. Weird.
Here’s us in April, at my first ‘Real’ Half Marathon. Real as in, the first one I actually ran the whole entire time. (Pretty proud).
Here’s a list-in-progress of the next topics I’m feeling compelled to write about:
BFF trip to Italy! (That happened!)
Multiples in the same class (Mine were put back together this year)
Orangetheory Fitness (my jam)
Pinterest Projects Galore (We made an exotic car- themed dresser for Ben’s new room!)
Getting into Running (me AND the kids!)
Weddings, weddings, and more weddings (because that’s what I do)
